Why sublingual works differently
The difference between MR TADA and a conventional capsule is not the active alone — it is the route of absorption.
The detour a tablet takes
A swallowed tablet travels a long way: oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, and from there via the portal vein into the liver. Only what survives that journey reaches the bloodstream. This process is known as the first-pass effect — part of the substance is metabolised in the liver before it arrives anywhere at all.
On top of that, absorption depends on what you ate beforehand. A high-fat meal can delay the process considerably.
The direct route through the oral mucosa
The mucous membrane under the tongue is thin and richly supplied with blood. Substances released there pass directly into the venous circulation, bypassing stomach, intestine and the liver's first-pass effect.
That is exactly what the oral film dosage form is built for: the strip dissolves within seconds precisely where absorption is meant to happen — not where it would first have to work its way there.
